INTRODUCTION

WHAT IS DOOHID?
Thank you for using DOOHid.
DOOHid is a presentation software for playing pictures, movies and HTML pages on your Android device.
Content can be managed by USB Stick or cloud services like Dropbox, OneDrive, and Google Drive. Unless you create a schedule, all content will be played 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
You can use the DOOHid software's automatic interactivity if your device has a touchscreen. Users can select content from multiple interactive modes. This interactivity does not need to be programmed — DOOHid does it automatically.

Please, read this manual carefully before you contact our support.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
DOOHid runs on almost all Android™ devices from version 4.4 to version 12. Your Android device must be rooted, or DOOHid must be granted root rights for correct and stable behaviour. To do this, please get in touch with your manufacturer or IT specialist.

INSTALLATION

PREPARE ANDROID
To operate DOOHid as a photo frame, you must prepare your system accordingly.
  • In the Android settings/developer options, you must enable "Leave Active".
  • If you are not installing DOOHid from the Android Market, you must allow applications of unknown origin to be installed in the security settings.
  • To install, you need a file manager. It won't be found on all devices and might need to be installed first.

SETTINGS

To get into the settings, you must start DOOHid first. Touch the screen until the password query appears (long touch or three quick touches), or connect a mouse and click the right mouse key, or use the back arrow on your device. Enter the password (factory setting is "11223344").
The settings are divided into different sections.

DEVICE SETTINGS
First, adapt DOOHid to your needs.
SCREEN ORIENTATION
The default is automatic rotation, so DOOHid's layout adapts to your device's screen orientation. You can also choose a manual setting (e.g., "Portrait").
LANGUAGE
Your device's language is the default language for the DOOHid settings. Alternatively, you can manually set English, German or Russian.
PASSWORD
Assign a new password here, which will take you to the DOOHid settings. The default password is "11223344" and should be changed for security reasons.
DESKTOP PASSWORD
This password takes you directly to the desktop of your Android device for service purposes. The default is "44332211," but you should also change it.
Note: if you forget your password, you can no longer make changes through our support. There is no "back door". You will have to reinstall.
LAUNCH APPLICATION ON DEVICE STARTUP
This option starts DOOHid automatically after restarting your device.
REBOOT THE DEVICE AT A SPECIFIC TIME
Enter a time for a daily restart. This is highly recommended, as Android cannot play movies for weeks while remaining stable. If you select this option, you can enter the convenient restart time under “Reboot device time”.
CORRECT DATE
Some Android devices can’t keep their time when they are shut down. If there is no internet connection at startup, they might have a wrong date, like 01.01.1970. This setting will store the last date and automatically use it if the system date is far off.

CONTENT
SOURCE
Set the source for your content here. Available
  • USB Stick / SD card (detailed settings for this source can be found in the settings under "USB settings")
  • Dropbox (detailed settings for this source can be found in the settings under "Dropbox settings")
  • OneDrive (detailed settings for this source can be found under “OneDrive settings”)
  • GoogleDrive (detailed settings for this source can be found under "GoogleDrive settings”)
UPDATE CONTENT
By clicking "Downloading Status", you can manually synchronise the content anytime. Below this, you can see the status of the synchronisation.
AUTO UPDATE TIME
DOOHid can automatically sync your content. To do this, set an interval in minutes. This works for all cloud sources. For USB sticks and SD cards: DOOHid continuously examines sticks and SD cards for a corresponding folder and updates the contents when it is found.
PLAYBACK
Under "Playback time," you can set how long images are displayed. Movies are always played to the end. If you are using schedules, you can overwrite this value per content.

INTERACTIVITY
DOOHid allows you to display your presentations interactively using a few settings. These parameters can be found below.
HTML INTERACTIVITY
When you view HTML pages, you can use this setting to specify whether a user can use that page by clicking/touching or whether the page is not reacting to touch and mouse click.
LOCAL REST INTERFACE
This turns on a small web server that will respond to REST requests to play specific content.
To be detailed soon…
INTERACTIVITY SETTINGS / MODE
Six modes govern how DOOHid plays content:

Default
All content runs in order; touch shows the content gallery, or nothing happens (depending on your settings).

Screensaver
All content runs in order; touch displays a web page

Presentation
Presentation behaves similarly to Normal, except that content stops longer after manual selection, and videos don’t return to the gallery after playing.

Teaser
There is a single content running, but the gallery offers all other content for selection on Touch.

Kiosk
This will play a single website in fullscreen.

Nexmosphere sensor control
This allows you to link the sensor output from Nexmosphere sensors to the contents of DOOHid.
DEFAULT MODE SETTINGS
Display content gallery specifies whether or not you want to show a gallery on touch. The gallery contains thumbnails of all available contents, which can be selected by clicking/touching and played accordingly.
SCREENSAVER MODE SETTINGS
DOOHid will play the regular content until it receives a click/touch.
Use “Conten URL” to specify which Web page will appear in screen mode when the user tou ches the screen. After each touch, a timer starts, which jumps back to the regular content loop after the number of seconds specified in the “Timeout” setting.
The timer will reset while the screen is still clicked/touched.
PRESENTATION MODE SETTINGS
This mode is perfect for presentation situations. Choose one content from the gallery to show it on screen. However, disregarding the standard 10 seconds for displaying the images, a different value applies here, which you set yourself under "Timeout" and thus gives enough time for a presentation or a talk about the products/services shown in the content.
TEASER MODE SETTINGS
With "Teaser content," you can select content that plays in an infinite loop until the screen is touched — then the gallery is displayed, and content can be selected directly. The default setting under "Contents" then applies to the display time of the images. “Timeout” is when DOOHid will r turn to play the teaser content if there is no more interaction.
KIOSK / SINGLE WEBSITE
This displays one website specified in the “Content URL”. This could be your co pany website or a webshop.
NEXMOSPHERE SENSOR CONTROL
In this mode, you can assign serial data from Nexmosphere sensors to the selected content. These contents will play when the sensors issue the corresponding message.
To be detailed soon…
USB MODE SETTINGS
If you activate the option "Copy from mounted USB”, DOOHid searches for a folder with the name you entered under "Content folder" when you turn on the device or plug in a USB storage device or SD card and copy its files to the play directory. All existing files in the play directory are overwritten or deleted.

After the files have been copied, you can remove the USB storage/SD card.

DROPBOX MODE SETTINGS
If you've specified "Dropbox" as the source of content, you need to log in to your Dropbox first. Click the setting, and you will be redirected to your device’s browser.
Follow the instructions in the browser. After a successful login and activation of the DOOHid app, you will find yourself back in the “Dropbox mode settings”. A new folder will be created in your Dropbox root folder on all your devices, like tablets or Windows PCs. It is called “Apps”. Inside this folder, you find he folder “DOOHID”. The DOOHid application can only access the files within this folder. All your other data is perfectly protected from access through the DOOHid application.
You can create subfolders and copy files into these folders.
Then, under "Content to play", select the root folder of your DOOHId app directory or a folder below it.
Dropbox handles the complete content sync for you.
Note: Dropbox may charge some services.
DOOHid will not save or know your Dropbox account credentials — instead, it gets a token to access Dropbox. So, your credentials are safe even if the device is stolen.

ONEDRIVE MODE SETTINGS
If you've specified "OneDrive" as the content source, you must log in to your OneDrive account first. Click the settings, and you will be redirected to your device’s browser. Follow the instructions in the browser After successfully logging in and activating the DOOHid app, you will be back in the “OneDrive mode settings”. Select the folder you want to use as a content source for playback.
OneDrive will sync the content for you. Whenever you change something in the selected folder, it will be synced across all devices.
OneDrive allows DOOHid to access all files and folders in your OneDrive storage. If your device gets into the wrong hands, this is a security risk. Therefore, you should create a specific OneDrive account just for DOOHid.

GOOGLEDRIVE MODE SETTINGS
DOOHid is currently waiting for Google approval. Once it is approved, we will publish the instructions.

DEVICE INFORMATION
Here, you will find information about your device, which can be necessary for support.

Continue the playback of your content.

SUPPORTED FORMATS

IMAGES
DOOHid for Android supports the following formats:
JPG, GIF, PNG
All images must be in RGB mode.
Use images of the correct size on your screen. Huge images significantly slow down DOOHid or can even crash it. Furthermore, they fill your memory very quickly. DOOHid will try to scale your images to the required image format in real-time.

VIDEOS
Videos are supported exclusively in the format MP4/H264.
If you want to map AVI, MOV or DIVX, we suggest converting them first.
Use videos at the correct size for your screen. Do not exceed frame rates of 30. Do not use higher bitrates than 10Mbit for 2K or 40Mbit for 4K. DOOHid's ability to play back your videos depends on the videos and the power of your Android device.
Many formats that DOOHid supports depend on the supported formats of Android itself. For a complete list of all formats, see http://developer.android.com/guide/Annex/media-formats.html.
However, full support for these formats is not guaranteed and depends on your device and Android version and settings.

TIPS FOR A BETTER RESULT

Here are some tips for better results and easier handling:
  1. Use content the correct size of your screen. Too large images can significantly slow down or crash DOOHid.
  2. Movies should be used with the codec H264 in the MP4 container. Again, don't use too large formats and make sure the frame rate is not more than 30 fps.
